Wilder's
comic take on the 1928 St. Valentine's Day Massacre finds
Jerry (Jack Lemmon) and Joe (Tony Curtis) as musicians who
witness a gangland killing in Chicago and need to get out
of town fast. Disguised as women, they join an all-girl band
headed for Miami.
Joe
doffs his wig and promptly falls in love with fellow band
member Sugar Kane (Marilyn Monroe). Jerry meanwhile, totally
beguilded by his own image of himself as a sexy woman, is
being wooed by millionaire Osgood Fielding III (Joe E. Brown).
When confronted with the truth about Jerry's gender, Osgood
utters the film's memorable last line - "Well, nobody's perfect."
