Planet of the Apes
If this is the best they've got around here, in six months we'll be running this planet.
Four astronauts fly into space at high speed. They've been in hibernation for eighteen months, but at the earth, time has elapsed for over two thousand years1. During the trip, the only female is accidently killed. The rocket lands on, what appears to be, a deserted planet. They start an expedition and find an oasis.
But there's life on the planet; mute humanlike creatures are hunted by their enemies, the apes. One of the astronauts gets killed, and the other two, Colonel George Taylor (Charlton Heston) and Landon (Robert Gunner) are captured and taken to ape city. They discover that, on this strange new world, gorillas, chimpanzees and other monkeys have evolved to become human-like, both physically and intellectual.
