This week in 1933 (June 1) the first Mickey Mouse watch was sold by Ingersoll-Waterbury, a Connecticut (USA) clock maker on the verge of bankruptcy. The watch did well and it is credited with helping to keep the company afloat during the Depression. Ingersoll-Waterbury became Timex in the 1960s.
